At Broadway Church of Christ, we encourage our children in… Knowing the Word Imitating Christ Delivering the Good News Serving Others Our children’s classes are staffed with trained and screened volunteers who warmly welcome children to class. SUNDAY AM CLASSES 9:15-10:20 a.m. Newborn – 2 years Nursery 1st Floor Ctr. Each week offers age-appropriate lessons about God and his creation. All parents are given pagers should any need arise. Feel free to visit our Cradle Roll classes any time. 2s (by Sept. 1st) and 3s 1st Floor NE Our department leaders, teachers and helpers do a wonderful job of helping these little ones feel happy to be in Bible class. The stories taught begin with how God created the earth and go chronologically through the Bible with age-appropriate lessons and activities. Department Leaders are Ruth Garner and Celeste Thompson. Greeter is Shirley Thompson. 4s (by Sept. 1st) and 5s 1st Floor NE Class time includes an age-appropriate Bible lesson, memory verse, crafts and activities. The major Bible stories of the Old and New Testament are covered during the course of the year. Department Leader is Renee Babb. Kindergarten 2nd Floor W Hall Each week students learn the story of God’s Big Plan, a chronological study of the Old and New Testament, with an emphasis on God’s plan throughout the text. Memory work is encouraged, as well as personal prayer. Department Leader is Gay Word. 1st Grade 2nd Floor W Hall Faith Foundations curriculum covers a comprehensive study of Genesis through Joshua. Memory work is emphasized, as well as Bible skills practice. Department Leader is Gay Word. 2nd and 3rd Grade 2nd Floor W Hall An in-depth study of the O.T. brings the overall theme of obedience to light. The 2nd year the focus is on the N.T., and the fulfillment of God’s plan through the life of Jesus. Students are given a passport to record their memory work as they travel through God’s Word. Department Leader is Margo Blake. 4th Grade 2nd Floor W Hall The Junior Road Department uses Faith Foundations curriculum to lead children to a greater understanding of the early church, and its importance in our lives today. Students actively participate in a very comprehensive study of Acts and some of the early epistles. SPECIAL 3rd SUNDAY CLASSES Construction Zone Construction Zone is a once-a-month family worship and learning time for children 4 years through 4th grade and their parents. Join Pops, Rob, Dan the Construction Man, and all the rest for a fun-filled hour of worship the third Sunday of each month during Bible class through the school year. Construction Zone meets on the 2nd Floor. Summer Service Sunday Summer Service Sunday meets every third Sunday through the summer in lieu of Construction Zone. SSS is a once-a-month service class for children 4 years through 4th grade and their parents. Families work together, serving our church and community. Prior service activities have included creating cards and gifts for shut-ins, collecting snacks and making play dough for a local elementary school, planting and harvesting at Carpenter's Garden, and baking cookies for neighbors. Join us as we learn to be servants together! WORSHIP SERVICE CARE 10:30-11:30 a.m. Nursery 1st Floor Ctr. An attended nursery is available during worship for babies birth to 24 months. Parents are given pagers should any need arise. Our nursery staff lovingly hold and rock young babies, do regular diaper checks, and give bottles as requested. Other caregivers play with older babies in our nursery play room, do regular diaper checks, read books, and sing. Preschool Praise across from Nursery Ages 2-4 Preschool Praise, a class available during worship for 2-4 years olds, is located across from the nursery. Parents may bring children to Preschool Praise after Bible class or bring them anytime during the worship service. Each week, children hear a Bible story, practice memorizing scriptures with a fun music CD, sing, color, have some playtime, and learn more about God! Preschool Praise meets all but the last Sunday of each month, to encourage families to share time together in worship. WEDNESDAY PM CLASSES 7:00-7:45 p.m. Newborn – 2 years 1st Floor West Hall Each week offers age-appropriate lessons about God and his creation. All parents are given pagers should any need arise. Kindergarten - 2nd Grade 2nd floor W Hall Class consists of praise time followed by discussions of "What We Believe." With age appropriate activities, fundamentals of faith are taught to help equip children with biblical understanding that is essential to developing one’s relationship with the Lord. Children gain a deeper understanding of the inspiration of scripture, our need for salvation, the Trinity, and our need for a relationship with God. Memory work is encouraged, as well as personal prayer. 3rd - 4th Grade 2nd floor W Hall Class consists of praise time followed by discussions of "What We Believe." With age appropriate activities, fundamentals of faith are taught to help equip children with biblical understanding that is essential to developing one’s relationship with the Lord.
