At Broadway, we want families to know that church is a safe and happy place for children.
In an effort to accomplish this, we follow these guidelines:
Safety
We want to ensure that our children are safe when they come to church.
We have a system for checking and retrieving children from
Bible class, and we encourage all of our approved staff and volunteers to wear
nametags. Fire Escape routes are posted prominently in every
classroom.
Broadway's Safety Team members patrol the hallways each week, always on the alert for suspicious behavior. Our video surveillance system routes to the central Safety Room, where cameras are monitored and team members are ready to respond to any concern.
Safety Check In
Parents of all children attending the nursery or cradle roll classes
are given a pager upon check-in, and will be contacted should there be
a need. This pager must be returned to pick up the baby. Children in
Beginner, Preschool, and Kindergarten classes are given nametags upon
check-in, and the parent is given a matching nametag for the child.
Children wait in class until parents
pick them up and return the child's nametag to the classroom
teachers. Children may not leave with anyone not returning the pager
or nametag. Parents need to pick up their children no later than 5
minutes after the end of class.
Health Policies
We want all our children to be healthy. We have specific
guidelines for parents to follow to assess their child’s health before
bringing them to church. Parents should keep their children at home if
they show symptoms of illness: fever (99.1) or higher temperature,
excessive coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, discharge in or around the
eyes, questionable rash, green or yellow runny nose, or any
communicable disease.
A child that is being treated with an antibiotic should have received
treatment for a minimum of 24 hours before coming to church. All care
givers and teachers should follow the same guidelines.
Volunteer Policies
We
screen our volunteers who work directly with children. The application
process includes completing an application, attending a safety training meeting, and completing a criminal background check. Our volunteers have
certain guidelines to follow when working with children such as the
“two person rule” meaning that an adult is never to be alone with a
child in any non-public place, following the discipline plan, and specific check-in procedures.

Thank you for sharing your
children with us each week. We are blessed to share God's love with them!
